CLASS INFORMATION

  • Classes are held weekly and are 1 hour long
  • Maximum of 4 students per session
  • Use of sewing machine and tools are provided in class.
  • Students are responsible to provide fabric and notions for each project.
    (If you are unsure and need assistance, please feel free to ask me.)
  • Classes are held in my home.
  • Students are to leave their projects in a space provided by the studio.
  • Classes are designed so that students can start anytime and work at their pace.
  • This ensures a stress-free, fun and relaxing environment for learning to sew.

SESSION TIMES:

Mondays:
1st session: 3:30pm – 4:30pm
2nd session: 5:00pm – 6:00pm
3rd session: 6:30pm – 7:30pm

Tuesdays:
1st session: 3:30pm – 4:30pm
2nd session: 5:00pm – 6:00pm
3rd session: 6:30pm – 7:30pm

BEHAVIOUR

  • It is expected that the behaviour of each student will be respectful and appropriate at all times during class and any other events sponsored by SEW MADE BY ME.
  • If a behaviour problem occurs, the student will receive a warning and parents will be notified.
  • If the behaviour continues and cannot be resolved, the student will be asked to withdraw from class.
  • No refunds of tuition will be made if a student is asked to withdraw from class.
  • SAFETY IS A PRIORITY FOR ALL STUDENTS IN CLASS.

SAFETY IN THE SEWING ROOM

  • Safety will be taught from day one, but sometimes accidents still happen.
  • Students will be working with pins, needles, scissors and occasionally a hot iron.
  • Students must wear light shoes; pins do fall on the floor and most times are difficult to see.
  • I have a first aid kit and a current St John first aid level 1 certificate.
  • I will treat minor wounds. In the event of a major event, you will be notified and an ambulance will be called.

SESSION FEES

  • Term fees are $85.00 per student per term. Home educating groups, St John Youth cadets, Scouts and Girl Guides, please contact us for a group discount.
  • Students starting mid-term will have their tuition pro-rated accordingly.
  • Invoices for fees will be emailed before the start of each term.
  • Payment is required within 15 days of invoice. Late fees of $5.00/term will be added to the invoice.
  • If you would like to pay by credit or debit card, there is a 3% fee added to your total.
  • There is no fee for payments made by cheque, cash or internet banking.
  • If a student is absent for whatever reason, please contact me.
  • Tuition is not pro-rated for missed classes and there are no tuition refunds if a student is unable to attend.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS

  • A 14-day written notice should be given for students wishing to cancel.
  • If I must cancel a session due to weather events or illness, make-up classes will be offered or a refund for the class time will be given.

MAKEUP CLASSES

  • All makeup classes are dependent on my available free time and will be arranged accordingly.
  • A maximum of 1 makeup session is allowed per term.

DISCOUNTS

  • A family discount of $5.00/sibling per term is applicable.

HOLIDAYS

  • No classes will be held on observed national holidays.
  • Weeks with holidays are not pro-rated, throughout the year classes balance out with some terms with more and some with less weeks.

PICK UP AND DROP OFF AGREEMENT

  • It is your responsibility to drop off and pick up your child on time.
  • Doors open 5 minutes before each session, camp or workshop.
  • There is no waiting facilities for students other than in the studio.
  • If students are continuously picked up late, you will be billed for the extra time.

FOR PARENT

  • Your child will be learning to sew.
  • Some seams may not be as straight as you would like, but he/she will be doing their best.
  • They will progress with practice.
